08.01.23 - Artist Series with Cynthia • Pollock and the Groovy 60s

Introducing our 2023 Artist Series with Cynthia Hagedorn! Each class and its project focuses on a particular famous artist. Your kiddo will leave class with a ton of creative inspiration and a couple unique finished pieces.

For August, students will create several unique Jackson Pollock inspired pieces while learning about the Groovy 60's.

During class parents/guardians can utilize the class discount of 20% off at Pursuit; grab coffee at Mudpenny, Brody Be, or Nonna's; or enjoy shopping other local stores in the village! We just ask that you don't go too far away, especially with smaller children.

Ages 5 and up. Juice boxes or water provided.

About Cynthia:

Cynthia is a West Michigan artist and social entrepreneur. She has been an educator for 30 years, teaching and guiding awareness through the arts. She is an independent docent at the Art Institute of Chicago. For the past 14 years, Cynthia has served as the owner and executive producer of Square Peg Events, LLC, an art-enhanced events company, creating and hosting art parties, artful dining experiences, progressive tastings, live mannequins, human sculptures, and other community events. You may know Cynthia as the founder and producer of Story StROLL which held its pilot program in Ada. 

For the past 6 years, Cynthia has curated and produced Care on Canvas, a program that partners with community groups that support both children and adults in diverse circumstances — including Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, where she currently serves as Artist-in-Residence; Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital; and Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, among others — to provide opportunities for people facing various situations to express their unique, individual journeys through painting, and to display those paintings in public exhibitions held annually at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center.  

These classes will serve as fundraisers for Care on Canvas.
