What is PURSUIT?
Our Mission: We believe in the power of connection and experience, and enjoying the journey. Our product offerings focus on bringing people together — providing an experience when read, held, and shared. Known for our unique greeting cards, we also offer office supplies, journals, books, art supplies, wall prints, boxed stationery, bath & body and an array of gift items. All our product is carefully curated for quality, design, humor, or its story. Most companies we carry are small like our own — many local. We work directly with these owners and designers to bring their unique products to our new location in Ada Village.
Our Story: In September of 2011, originally called 6.25 Paper Studio, we began in a small, 350-square-feet space in Downtown Grand Rapids. We started in Rockford Construction’s retail incubator called MoDiv, a mini shopping mall for start-ups and local businesses. 6.25 Paper Studio was one of the first stores to open, and we were soon joined by other local shops to create a truly unique and valuable shopping experience.
In October of 2013, we moved into our own space next door. For six years, we became the go-to spot on Monroe Center for humorous cards, thoughtful gifts, and specialty stationery. As our space grew, so did our product offerings. Between popular stationery brands and local vendors, we created a space to share laughter and show gratitude.
In 2018 we changed the name to The Paper Studio. We also had a small flower/gift shop in the Downtown Market called Pulp & Stem in 2018 & 2019. We seem to like change, because at the end of 2019, we decided to head out of downtown and relocate ourselves in the new development of Ada Village under the new name Pursuit Gift Shop. I seriously considered the name “Identity Crisis” at the time :) Ada welcomed us with more love than we could have imagined and instantly felt like a perfect fit for our little business. We hope Ada will be our forever home and couldn’t be more thankful for all the support over the years during this journey!!
Our Team: I am constantly humbled by leading a team that is so genuinely passionate about our company, the products, and our customers. This team inspires me daily to work harder from behind the scenes to grow and improve. I especially love it when I cover a shift and my customers are disappointed because they came to see one of my staff — not me! This is how I know my team is killing it and helping to spread our mission of making connections.
Wholesale: The cornerstone of our business is our humorous greeting cards. We have written and designed over 400 cards in the past five years and shown our line at national gift shows across the country. Our wholesale line has also been renamed to Pursuit Wholesale and can be found all over the United States in lovely little boutiques like our own.
